The Auckland Secondary School Weightlifting Championships were held recently at the Kolmar Recreation Centre, Papatoetoe. Four sessions were held throughout the day with fifty-three students competing in their respective categories. Individual Squash Champs 

The Individual Squash Championships were held at the National Squash Centre with just under ninety students competing from nineteen schools. The championships were held over two days with the Boys section having seven divisions and the Girls section five divisions.  Division 1 Girls was won by Justine Pausch from Takapuna Grammar School with Matilda Lowe from Rangitoto College the runner-up.  In the Boys Division 1 final Noah Thomas from Auckland Grammar and Riley McCracken from Mount Albert Grammar played a five-set thriller with Noah prevailing. Orienteering Rogaine Championships

Orienteering Rogaine Championships 2023 Four hundred students took part in the Auckland Secondary Schools Rogaine Championships at Humphries Farm, near Waimauku recently.  The map, named Stoneybrook, is a very hilly course with many spur gully complexities that highly rewarded the students that meticulously planned their routes to avoid unnecessary climbing.  The event was extremely waterlogged and the overnight rain proved it to be a challenging affair with many mud-strewn children returning. Cross Country Zones

Over five hundred and fifty competitors from forty-three schools attended the recent two cross-country zone events. The North West Zone was held at Moire Park, Massey and the Central South and Eastern Zone at Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga.  Both courses provided athletes with numerous challenges, one being the heavy conditions under foot. Archery Matchplay Championship

One hundred and six students took part in the Archery Match Play Championships held at the Auckland Archery Club on 2nd April. This event concluded school archery for term 1. The medal matches were fantastic with some high-level shooting with several archers now heading to Australia to represent NZ in the Trans-Tasman Archery Competition. Water Polo Finals

Sacred Heart College defeated Westlake Boys High School 9-2 in the Premier Boys gold medal match with St Cuthbert’s defeating Diocesan 8-6 in the Premier Girls final.  Baradene College and Auckland Grammar claimed the bronze medals in their respective Premier matches. The Senior A Girls Grade was won by Diocesan with St Mary’s claiming the silver and St Cuthbert’s the bronze.  In the Senior A Boys Sacred Heart won the gold, Kristin the silver and Mt Albert Grammar the bronze.

Takapuna Grammar and Kings Win T20 Cricket Titles

For the first time both the Girls and Boys T20 finals were held at Melville Park on the same day. Auckland Volleyball Champs

The College Sport Auckland Volleyball Championships were held at the Bruce Pulman Arena in Takanini on the 15 -17 March Congratulations to winners Rangitoto College in the boys division and Orewa College in the girls division. This is largest event College Sport Auckland undertakes featuring 108 teams and 60 schools in both the boy’s and girl’s sections.
