Student Spotlight: Jaden Movold

Year 12 Rangitoto College student Jaden Movold has always loved competing in sports, but it wasn’t until a year ago that he found a new passion in wheelchair racing. During lockdown, Jaden got up at 12.30am to be a part of a virtual Boston Marathon through Zoom with World and Paralympic Wheelchair Racing champions from all over the world. Update on Winter Sport Seasons

Yesterday the government eased the restrictions on gatherings to allow for up to 100 people to gather, effective Friday. This is good news as it will allow sports teams to train together, and to play each other, when they are ready to do so. National Sporting Organisations and Sport New Zealand are currently revising their guidance documents and they should be available in the next few days. Hosting Requirements

The following hosting requirements apply to all College Sport Auckland season competitions with internal draw management i.e. Basketball (Premier + Central, Eastern, Western & Counties Manukau Zones), Football, Hockey (Auckland & Super City), Girls Lacrosse, Rugby League, and Squash. The Host School will be the team on the left hand side of draw (this includes fixtures played at council and club venues) or the school physically hosting the fixture i.e. schools used as a central venue. Student Spotlight: Lucia Doak

Year 13 Kristin student Lucia Doak found her love for water polo at a young age, spotting a flippa ball poster after a swim session at AUT Millennium. Intrigued, she signed up and found out she loved it. After two years Lucia moved into the more advanced sport of water polo and hasn’t stopped playing since. UPDATED Alert Level 2 information from Sport NZ

Sport New Zealand has published UPDATED information detailing what Alert Level 2 will mean for play, active recreation and sport. Under Alert Level 2 the disease is contained, but there is still a risk of community transmission. The objective of the guidelines is to minimise the risk of transmission of the virus, and to be able to rapidly track and isolate any cases that may arise. Student Spotlight: Zeshan Bari

After dominating the cricket scene at intermediate school, Zeshan Bari took a few years off the game. After undergoing knee surgery last year, he picked up the sport again, and gained selection into the schools 1st XI, in time for his final year at school.
