Duathlon Championships 2021

The College Sport Auckland Duathlon Championships were held at Pukekohe Park on Wednesday 9 June. The event saw over 200 athletes competing from 22 schools. The event was held in wet overcast conditions where competitors ran and cycled in their respective grade distances as individuals or as part of a team. Cross Country series concludes with Championships

Weightlifting Championships 2021

Our first Weightlifting Championships was held last weekend on Saturday 22nd May hosted at Functional Strength Olympic and organised by Weightlifting New Zealand . The event allowed two avenues of participation: New to Sport and Competitive. The New to Sport category allowed relatively inexperienced athletes to have exposure to the competitive process in a supportive manner; athletes took their attempts in a round robin format and were provided feedback and support to encourage attainment of ‘good’ lifts. Premier & 1A Cricket Finals

Last week saw three College Sport Finals to close out the summer. Kings College snuck past Mt Albert Grammar in a low-scoring thriller last Wednesday. Baradene College squared the ledger against Epsom Girls, winning the Premier Girls T20 title also on Wednesday. Pinehurst win Premier Golf Final

Pinehurst School took out the College Sport Auckland Premier Golf competition after defeating Macleans College in the final last Monday at Pakuranga Golf Club. On paper, the Pinehurst team were not expected to win. Macleans College are former national champions and their current team fields some of New Zealand’s best players. Despite this, Pinehurst won the match by two strokes to take the title for 2021. Rangitoto Premier Boys win Volleyball Nationals

The Rangitoto College Premier Boys Volleyball team won the New Zealand Secondary School Championships for the first time in their history during Summer Tournament Week in Palmerston North. The team beat Western Heights in the semi final 3-0 and Trident College in the final 3-1. Ethan Skelton was named MVP. This victory completed an amazing season in which they won the North Harbour Senior Super League, the College Sport Auckland Premier Season and the College Sport Auckland Championships. This week, nine schools took part in the Gillette Venus Regional Qualifiers for Auckland. The tournament started with two Pools; Westlake Girls, Mt Albert Grammar, Takapuna Grammar, Saint Kentigern and Mt Roskill Grammar battled it out in Pool A, while Epsom Girls, Baradene College, Glendowie College and Diocesan faced off in Pool B. College Sport Auckland with Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand (OWNZ) will be hosting the first College Sport Auckland Weightlifting Championships in Term 2 this year. This event will be participation focused, with an emphasis on encouraging involvement from those new to the sport. A stunning day welcomed over 250 students from 25 schools to Point England on Tuesday 16 March. Perfect weather with almost no wind greeted the 21 competing teams at the 2021 College Sport Auckland Senior Outdoor Ultimate Championships on Sunday at Bruce Pulman Park. Over 7 hours, teams from all over Auckland threw, hucked, dived for, and caught a 175gm plastic disc with skill, grace and enthusiasm.
