Pinehurst win Premier Golf Final

Pinehurst School took out the College Sport Auckland Premier Golf competition after defeating Macleans College in the final last Monday at Pakuranga Golf Club. On paper, the Pinehurst team were not expected to win. Macleans College are former national champions and their current team fields some of New Zealand’s best players. Despite this, Pinehurst won the match by two strokes to take the title for 2021. Zheng pursues his golf dream in the USA

Times Online: The talent and hard work of golfer Jimmy Zheng has been recognised with the award of an academic and sporting scholarship to Duke University, one of the powerhouses of American Collegiate sport. Zheng, who plays off an impressive handicap of 2.6, captained the Macleans Premier Golf Team during their victory in the 2018 NZ Secondary Schools Championship and retention of the title this year. At just 16, golfer Jimmy Zheng fires 60 around Palmerston North GC

Stuff: Auckland teenager Jimmy Zheng sensed it might be his day when he made eagle on the par-four 10th hole at Palmerston North Golf Club. It turned into the round of a lifetime for the 16-year-old Macleans College student who signed for a mind-boggling 12-under-par 60 at the New Zealand Secondary Schools finals on Monday. Zheng looks to replicate Lydia Ko’s Olympic success

Macleans College golfer Jimmy Zheng has been selected to represent New Zealand at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. His selection comes off the back of strong international form, and he’s excited at the opportunity to compete against the world’s best young golfers. Zheng will compete in two divisions at the Games. First up is the men’s individual championships held from 9 – 11 October. Pinehurst claim Premier Golf title

The College Sport Auckland Premier Teams Golf Final was held on Monday at Muriwai Golf Club. Pinehurst School made it into this year’s final narrowly beating the Saint Kentigern team 212-214 in their semi-final at Pupuke Golf Club, while Macleans College beat Rangitoto College 209-260 at Pakuranga Golf Club. The final between Pinehurst and Macleans was taken out by Pinehurst who won 215-219. The Premier Champion team was made up of Eujin Kang, Jaewoo Son, Yeonsoo Son, Subin Wui & Sung Jin Yeo.

Representing Lynfield College at the College Sport Auckland Golf Strokeplay Championships, Miree Jung blitzed her opposition which means her name is now engraved on the same trophy won by her golfing idol, Lydia Ko – a fantastic and exciting achievement.
