A new venue at Ambury Park welcomed over 140 students from 24 Schools to compete in the Duathlon Championships. This year thirty-four teams and eighty individuals competed in their respective age groups of Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors. Badminton Clash of the Smash
The annual Counties Manukau Badminton Clash of the Smash Tournament was held recently with several local schools competing at the Ray Phillips Badminton Centre in Papakura. In the Boys Division, Strathallan A Boys placed first with Rosehill A Boys second and Alfriston A Boys in third place. In the Girls Division, Rosehill A Girls were first with Alfriston A Girls second and Ormiston Junior A Girls in third place. Discs were flying across the Bruce Pulman Arena on Sunday as over 150 students took to the courts at the 2023 AKSS Indoor Ultimate Championships (Open Division). Seventeen teams with various levels of experience entered the competition and the early rounds saw some big margins as teams found their level in the event. Over four hundred and fifty competitors took part in the Auckland Cross Country Championships recently at Lloyd Elsmore Park. Forty-one schools were represented across the six grades with the largest field being the Intermediate Boys with over one hundred and twenty participants. Th course provided athletes with numerous challenges, one being the heavy conditions under foot. The Individual Squash Championships were held at the National Squash Centre with just under ninety students competing from nineteen schools. The championships were held over two days with the Boys section having seven divisions and the Girls section five divisions. Orienteering Rogaine Championships 2023 Four hundred students took part in the Auckland Secondary Schools Rogaine Championships at Humphries Farm, near Waimauku recently. The map, named Stoneybrook, is a very hilly course with many spur gully complexities that highly rewarded the students that meticulously planned their routes to avoid unnecessary climbing. The event was extremely waterlogged and the overnight rain proved it to be a challenging affair with many mud-strewn children returning.
