Water polo prodigy gets competitive edge from her All Black father

The daughter of a former All Black is making a name for herself, being named as the youngest member of the New Zealand women’s water polo team.

Morgan McDowall, 15, daughter of Steve McDowall, has been selected to represent New Zealand at the upcoming intercontinental water polo championships, to be held in Auckland on April 2 to April 8.

The Diocesan School for Girls student has only been playing the sport for three years, but her physical talent and competitive nature were “impossible to ignore” when the national side was being selected, head coach Angie Winstanley Smith said.
