The 2018 College Sport Auckland Gymsports Championships were held over three days in Week 9 of Term 2. The Artistic, Rhythmic, Tumbling & Trampoline Championships were held on the Thursday at the Pulman Park GymSport & Recreation Centre and the Aerobics Championships were held during the weekend at Diocesan School for Girls. Gymnasts can compete in any number of disciplines. Waikato Times: When Paris Boyce-Bacon steps on stage to compete, she knows the next minute-and-a-half will be exhausting. She smiles and puts in as much energy as possible into her aerobic gymnastics routine, mental toughness equally important as physical strength. Rodney Times: Eight gymnasts struck gold after securing 14 medals between them at this month’s national competitions. Wentworth College students Sophia Mueller, Bronte Heath, Alex Dobson, Emma Gilpin and Caitlin Smith represented their school as the senior rhythmic gymnastics team this month at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Gymnastic Championships and won the year nine and 10 group section of the competition.
