National secondary school volleyball title for Westlake Girls

Stuff: Westlake Girls’ High School are the national secondary school girls volleyball champions after winning the national tournament at the Arena in Palmerston North last week. Westlake beat Otumoetai College, of Tauranga, 3-1 in the girls’ final on Friday afternoon. The two sides were level 1-all after the first two sets, but Westlake won the next two to seal the win. The Central Western Zone Athletics meet was held yesterday at Trusts Arena in Henderson. In hot and sunny conditions, four College Sport Auckland records were broken throughout the day. One of the first field events of the day was the Intermediate Boys High Jump. Basketball the big mover in School Sport NZ Census

School Sport NZ: While the top 10 sports in terms of students representing their school remains unchanged from 2017, the School Sport NZ Census released last week shows that Basketball continued its growth in the sector to now be the second most popular sport in our secondary schools.
