Nine teams competed in the Counties Manukau Badminton Clash of the Smash held at the Ray Phillips Badminton Centre in Papakura yesterday. Mt Albert Grammar School: World Junior Championships-bound swimmer Brearna Crawford led the way and rewrote the record books with outstanding early season form at the annual Evolution Swim Meet held in Hamilton. Brearna become New Zealand’s fastest female short course 100m Breaststroke swimmer when she broke the NZ Open Record in a classy time of 1.07.14sec. Squash Auckland: After two days of tough competition at the North Shore Squash Club, the 2019 College Sport Auckland Squash Team Champions have been decided with Mt Albert Grammar (Boys Division 1) and Westlake Girls (Girls Division 1) claiming the shields. 1 NEWS: Pakuranga College student Gabby Wright has umpired her first ever netball competition from a wheelchair. The 15-year-old is believed to be New Zealand Netball’s first ever wheelchair umpire. “It was really good, I was smiling the whole time apparently,” said Wright. The frisbee action moved indoors in Term 2 with the College Sport Auckland Indoor Ultimate Championships held at Pulman Arena. Eighteen teams from ten schools competed across the Open and Girls divisions with first-time entries from Birkenhead College and Rosmini College.
