Manukau Courier: The Black Ferns’ World Cup success has fired up the interest of young girls’ in rugby. By just how much was evident at the civic celebration for the world champions at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau last Thursday. The majority of the 300 or so well wishers were by far girls. National School Road Cycling Champions

The 50th National School Road Cycling Championships were held last weekend in Manawatu. Almost 700 cyclists from 83 schools competed in the three-day event which included a team time trial, road race and points race. The Sir Bernard Fergusson trophy for the U20 Boys Team Time Trial was hotly contested this year, with five teams finishing within 30 seconds of each other. NZSS Water Polo Squads Named for Trans-Tasman Tests

New Zealand Water Polo has announced the trialists for the 2017 New Zealand Secondary Schools Teams. Thirteen players will be selected in each team to travel to Canberra, Australia, from 16-21 December 16-21 to play in the 2017 Trans-Tasman Test Series from 18-20 December. New Zealand is the defending champion in both series, winning in Auckland last year. Rodney Times: Eight gymnasts struck gold after securing 14 medals between them at this month’s national competitions.
