New teams taste success at NZSS Junior Badminton Championships

The first ever New Zealand Secondary School Junior Badminton Championships were held late-November in Auckland. For six Auckland schools, this was their first time attending a NZSS Badminton event, and two of them – ACG Parnell College and Botany Downs Secondary College – headed home as national champions. Triathlete crowned junior sportsman of the year twice

Eastern Courier: Success is coming thick and fast for a East Auckland triathlete. In September, 17-year-old Daniel Whitburn won his under-19 division at the ITU World Triathlon Age Group Championships in the Netherlands. The Farm Cove local has now been crowned Young Sportsman of the Year at the College Sports Auckland Awards, and only days later he received the Counties Manukau Junior Sportsman of the Year prize. Earlier last month, Kurtis received notice that he’d been named a finalist in the 27th Annual Young Sportsperson of the Year Awards. Olivia McTaggart breaks second Eliza McCartney record in 13 months

NZSSSC: Teenage pole vaulter Olivia McTaggart has wiped Eliza McCartney from the record books for the second time in a little more than a year. The 17-year-old Kristin School student, who last year matched the Olympic bronze medallist’s national secondary schools record (4.10m), shattered it by 20cm at the Hawkes Bay Regional Sports Park on Saturday.
