Zach was co-captain of his school team who won the College Sport Auckland Premier Grade. He played for the Harbour U19 team at the National Basketball Championships who finished 3rd and was selected into the tournament team. He was a key member of the Auckland Huskies in the Men’s National Basketball League and was named NBL Youth Player of the Year which is awarded to the best player in the league under the age of 22. He was also named into the New Zealand U19 Junior Tall Blacks before their trip to the FIBA U19 World Cup was cut short due to COVID-19. Finally, he signed a NCAA Division 1 basketball scholarship with Fordham University, New York, USA.
