85th Head of the Harbour Regatta Success

On Saturday 13 February, we held the 85th College Sport Auckland Head of the Harbour Rowing Regatta at Lake Pupuke with 940 students participating – an increase of nearly 90 students from the previous year.

This year’s regatta was run very efficiently by the Auckland Rowing Association officials and Takapuna Grammar School Rowing Club on the water. It was an amazing day with the weather playing its part and for the first time in many years, we had virtually no wind and no races had to be cancelled. There were plenty of exciting close finishes and with the fantastic conditions, races even ran ahead of schedule on the odd occasion.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped on the day, especially our on the water officials from ARA and TGS Rowing Club.

The races were all completed in great spirit and winning schools collected their medals and badges throughout the day. A final presentation was held at the conclusion of the event to present the Under 18 Boys and Girls 8’s and points trophies.

The top three crews in the U18 Girls 8’s were:

1st Diocesan School for Girls

2nd Baradene College of the Sacred Heart

3rd Westlake Girls High School

The top three crews in the U18 Boys 8’s were:

1st Auckland Grammar School
