Junior Water Polo Season Wrap

The College Sport Auckland Junior A Water Polo finals were held over the weekend at Diocesan School. This wrapped up another successful Term 4 junior competition with 60 teams from 33 different schools competing across Auckland.

On Friday evening, Diocesan A took out the Junior A Girls final against Rangitoto 11-2. Baradene defeated Western Springs Girls in a close game to take home bronze with a 5-4 win.

On Sunday, both Junior A Boys medal matches were closely fought.

King’s A played Sacred Heart A in the bronze medal game. The game was goal for goal with both teams putting up a strong fight but King’s edged away in the last quarter to claim 3rd place with an 8-7 win. King’s goals: Watson and Tasker (3 each), Hunt and Euyett (1 each). Sacred Heart goals: N Grace and B Chungssn (2 each), J Bell, B Millard, M Byers (1 each).

In the Junior A Boys final, Rangitoto and Westlake Boys were equal at full time with six goals each. After a penalty shoot out, it was Rangitoto who claimed gold, winning 9-7. Rangitoto goals: T Armes (4), O Pritchard (2), L Blackburn, L Misur and B Frost (1). Westlake Boys goals: A Soldakovic (4), D Ibbotson (2), L Hackett and B Wells (1).

Good luck to all teams competing this week at the NZWP North Island Year 9 & 10 Secondary Schools Championships. This tournament runs from 28 November – 1 December and games will be played at AUT Millennium, Diocesan School, National Aquatic Centre, West Wave Aquatic Centre and Sacred Heart College.
