Baradene College girls orienteering team finish third at World Championships

Baradene College’s girls orienteering team have returned from the World School Championships in Sicily with a third-place finish.

The five-girl junior squad went to Italy late last month to compete alongside three other New Zealand teams in the week-long event.

Mt Albert Grammar junior boys, Napier Girls senior girls, and Napier Boys senior boys also competed.

Orienteering is a sport where competitors use maps to complete navigational challenges in unfamiliar areas.

The World School Championships consisted of two races in which the girls took on 19 other countries. The three best individual team member’s scores were added together to form the team score.
