Saint Kentigern claim NZSS Girls Football title

Saint Kentigern College played the final of the NZSS Lotto Premier Tournament in Taupo on Friday against their old rivals Mt Albert Grammar School, who had previously won the championship many times.

At half time Mt Albert Grammar were leading 2-0, but with the wind at their backs the Saint Kentigern girls fought hard to catch up and level the score at 2-2 to take the game to extra time.

The game was tied 3-3 at the end of the first half of extra time, then 4-4 at the end of full time and into a penalty shoot out.

Penalties were even after the first 5 each and then after 3 rounds of sudden death, goalie Brooke Wylie made a fantastic save and Saint Kentigern College won the championship.

This team has been unbeaten all season – College Sport Auckland Season Champions, College Sport Auckland Knockout Cup Champions, and now New Zealand Secondary School Champions.
