Greer rising through the netball ranks

The Post – Franklin & North Waikato:

At 16, Greer Sinclair is well on her way on becoming a Silver Fern.

The Epsom Girls Grammar School student has just been selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Netball team. An achievement that she missed out on last year, so she set it as her goal for 2017.

“Being named for the 2017 squad means a lot. I am incredibly excited to represent my country in netball,” she says.

The Secondary Schools Squad was selected from 21 players following the Netball NZ U17 Champs held in Pukekohe in July. From there, 12 players from across the nation were selected, and will fly to Canberra for the tournament later in September.

“Whilst I am new to the team I hope to be in the starting seven. It has been a long journey, with strict training regimes and dedication to the sport, and I hope to represent my country with pride. I hope that we can retain the trophy from last year.”

Greer, who is also of Cook Island descent, is proof that determination and hard work to follow your dream, pays off.
