James won the Senior Boys 1500m and set a new record to win the Senior Boys 800m at the College Sport Auckland Athletics Championships and won the Senior Boys 800m and 4 x 400m relay at the NZSS Track and Field Championships. Penelope finished 2nd in the Senior Girls 1500m, 2nd in the 4 x 400m relay and set a new record to win the 3000m at the College Sport Auckland Athletics Championships. She finished 1st in the Senior Girls 1500m and set a new North Island record to win the 3000m at the NISS Athletics Championships and competed at the NZSS Track and Field Championships where she finished 4th in the Senior Girls 3000m. Penelope is also the current record holder of the New Zealand U20 women’s 3000m.
