Auckland Grammar 1st XI – SuperCity Hockey Champions
On Wednesday 23 August, Auckland Grammar School played Rosmini College in the final of the Premier Boys SuperCity Hockey competition. Having suffered a disappointing 6-0 loss during their previous meeting, and with Rosmini being unbeaten this year, the team knew that they had a daunting task ahead if they were to be crowned the SuperCity champions for the second year running. In what proved to be an amazing evening of sport for Saint Kentigern on Wednesday, the first major win of the evening came from the Girls Football 1st XI team. In a first for the team, having already topped the College Sport Auckland season, they put in a stellar performance to beat Baradene 3-0 to win the Auckland Provincial Championships. East & Bays Courier: There will be more than just school pride and silverware on the line for One Tree Hill College’s 1XV rugby side on Saturday. When the boys run out onto Eden Park for the Auckland 1B final against Botany Downs Secondary College, it would be the first time since 1977 the school has been represented on that stage. Not typically known as a rugby powerhouse, the One Tree Hill side carved out a terrific season in 2017 finishing with an 11-2 record.
