Sylvia was the captain of the Mt Albert Grammar 1st XV team who won the College Sport Auckland Championship, was a member of Ponsonby Senior Woman’s team, played for the Auckland Storm in the Farah Palmer Cup, played for the Blues Women’s team, and attended the New Zealand Black Ferns rugby camp earlier this year.
