Triathlete crowned junior sportsman of the year twice

Eastern Courier: Success is coming thick and fast for a East Auckland triathlete. In September, 17-year-old Daniel Whitburn won his under-19 division at the ITU World Triathlon Age Group Championships in the Netherlands. The Farm Cove local has now been crowned Young Sportsman of the Year at the College Sports Auckland Awards, and only days later he received the Counties Manukau Junior Sportsman of the Year prize. Award tops off great year for Kurtis

The Post – Franklin & North Waikato: Christmas came early this year for Waiuku College student Kurtis Shuker. Earlier last month, Kurtis received notice that he’d been named a finalist in the 27th Annual Young Sportsperson of the Year Awards. The College Sport Auckland Young Sportsman of the Year is an International Triathlon champion and intends taking up Ironman in the near future.
