Triathlete crowned junior sportsman of the year twice
Eastern Courier: Success is coming thick and fast for a East Auckland triathlete. In September, 17-year-old Daniel Whitburn won his under-19 division at the ITU World Triathlon Age Group Championships in the Netherlands. The Farm Cove local has now been crowned Young Sportsman of the Year at the College Sports Auckland Awards, and only days later he received the Counties Manukau Junior Sportsman of the Year prize. Earlier last month, Kurtis received notice that he’d been named a finalist in the 27th Annual Young Sportsperson of the Year Awards.
