Emily Clegg from Mt Albert Grammar School won the Young Sportswoman of the Year for Football and Edward Pawson from Auckland Grammar School winning the Young Sportsman of the Year for Cycling at the Young Sportsperson of the Year Awards.
The event was held at Eden Park with just under six hundred people in attendance. The Awards have been held since 1991 to celebrate the outstanding sporting achievements of Auckland secondary school students.
Guest speaker Cam Calkoen inspired the audience with Wendy Petrie the Master of Ceremonies and the Westlake Girls High School Kapa Haka opening the evening with their performance.
Along with the Sports Awards, students were recognised for their achievements on the international stage which included the Commonwealth Games.
