Sacred Heart’s 1st XI added the Senior Grade Knockout Cup trophy to their CSA Premier title after defeating a valiant Macleans College 1st XI in the Knockout Cup final at Bill McKinlay Park last Friday. The final was played at a tremendous pace, with the deciding goal being a penalty within the closing moments of the contest. The other two finals went down to the wire, with their respective winners claiming victory in extra time. In the 13th Grade final, St Peters College outpaced Westlake Boys High School 3-2. With scores tied at the end of regulation, St Peters scored in the first half of extra time to claim the championship. The 15th Grade final between Sacred Heart College and Westlake Boys High School looked to be all said and done in regulation. Sacred Heart were controlling the game at 2-1 with a minute remaining until Westlake found the back of their net to send the game into extra time where Westlake pushed ahead to win the championship 3-2.
