Entry Information:

Join the College Sport Auckland ISO Distance Competition – how many kilometres can your school cover in a week?

This is our second participation-based competition to help students and staff keep active, stay connected, and engage in some friendly sporting competition between schools during Alert Level 3. Any distance will help contribute to your school’s total and you can run, walk, cycle or even row (if you have a rowing machine).

Record and submit your distance either running, walking, cycling or rowing between 9.00am Thursday 7 May and 9.00am Thursday 14 May to contribute to your school’s total distance. Only one entry per day will be counted towards your school’s total distance, so please remember to submit your distance the same day you recorded it. Each entry must include proof you have completed the distance submitted e.g. a screenshot from Strava or MapMyRun, or a photo of the distance recorded on your erg. Please be sensible and know your limits!

Points will be based on school roll numbers i.e. average kilometres per student at your school. Distances recorded running, walking or rowing will be included as they’ve been entered. Distances recorded cycling will be divided by three so they are more comparable, but please submit the full distance you cycled.

We’ll update the school leader boards each weekday and announce the final placings on Thursday 14 May 2020.

So get moving, contact your school friends to get them involved, submit your entries (via the link below) and tag us on Instagram @collegesportauckland #isodistancecomp

Rules:

  1. All entrants participate at their own risk and agree to exercise as safely as possible and strictly adhere to all Government regulations and road rules.
  2. All exercise must be done alone or with someone in your household (e.g. a parent/caregiver or sibling). We ask that all under 16’s are accompanied by an adult from their household.
  3. Please run/walk on a safe pathway where you will avoid traffic and always give way to any traffic and other pedestrians (allowing 2 metre gaps).
  4. We encourage cyclists to record their distance at home if they have the required equipment. If you choose to cycle on the road, please cycle with the correct safety equipment, obey all road rules and where possible use designated cycle lanes/paths.
  5. Record all entries as close to home as possible, in alignment with Government advice.
  6. Entries must be running, walking, cycling or erg rowing only – no scooters,  no roller blades, etc. however athletes with a disability may use a suitable piece of adapted assistive equipment equivalent to any of these activities unassisted. Entries running or walking on a treadmill will also be accepted, as will cycling on a wind trainer with a speed sensor or exercycle.
  7. Distances must be recorded and submitted between 9.00am Thursday 7 May and 9.00am Thursday 14 May 2020.
  8. Only one entry will be accepted per person per day, with a maximum of seven entries per person counting towards their school’s total distance.
  9. Each entry must include a screenshot or photo of the distance covered including time taken, distance covered and date.
  10. Distances recorded running, walking or rowing will be included as they’ve been entered e.g. 3.5km running = 3.5 points. Distances recorded cycling will be divided by three so they are more comparable, but the distance entered on the entry form should be the full distance cycled e.g. 10.5km cycling = 3.5 points.
  11. Total points for each school will be divided by the school roll number (based on the Ministry of Education 2019 data) i.e. average kilometres per student at the school.
  12. All entrants must be either a year 7 – 13 student at a College Sport Auckland member school, or a staff member who is currently employed by a College Sport Auckland member school.
